Bear Downing and Kit Hitchcock are in Charleston, South Carolina, preparing to depart early on the afternoon of May 27, 2001, on the next northbound leg of their exploration of the Eastern Seaboard.
Their overall plan for the Eastern Seaboard cruise starts in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. From there they will work their way in short coastal legs to Mt. Desert, Maine, where they hope to be by July 4, 2001. From Mt. Desert they plan to visit Nova Scotia's Bay of Fundy in July, go up the Saint John river in New Brunswick and back to Maine by mid- August, harbor-hop their way down the coast to New York in September, and on to the Chessapeake Bay in October, 2001.
That's the plan. Here's what they've actually done:
Many segments of their cruise are appropriate for their Learn to Cruise, Passagemaking and Cruising Guest programs. To learn more about their bookings and class availability, click here. To learn about fees and policies, click here.
Their previous cruise, a complete loop of the Caribbean Sea, was completed on May 4, 1999. To learn more about that trip, click here. They've put together a slideshow on that trip, and can present the show to your sailing club or other interested organization. To learn more about the slideshow, click here.

They will be having irregular access to the Internet during their cruises, so don't expect an immediate response. Because access time is expensive for them while they're cruising, use text format for your messages, please don't send any attachments, and please don't forward any jokes. Thanks for your consideration.
