Goal: To provide the opportunity to experience the joy of sailing for those people who would otherwise not have this experience.
To include but not be limited to:
Scholarships to youth sailing programs,
Scholarship to Adult sailing lessons and access to sailing for a year,
Scholarship to sailing instructors to become certified to teach sailing,
Scholarship for 'A Taste of Cruising',
Equipment (gear, PFD's, gloves) that provide individual access to sailing,
Acknowledgment sails for Cancer caregivers and their families.
It would be our intention that someone who has received a Bear Downing Memorial Sailing Scholarship will some day sail around the world in his honor.
